Mud pump maintenance of XCMG horizontal directional drilling rig

January 28, 2021

How to better maintain your equipment in winter? Today, we will learn about the maintenance of XCMG horizontal directional drilling pump, so that your equipment will be more awesome.

  1. Maintenance of mud pump

1.1 The mud pump shall be inspected one by one according to the “preparation work before starting the pump” before starting working.

1.2 The working pressure of the pump shall be strictly controlled according to the label, the continuous working time under the rated maximum working pressure shall not exceed 1 hour, and the continuous working pressure shall be controlled within 80% of the rated pressure (when the medium is thick mud).

1.3 The fit between piston and cylinder liner should be properly tightened, and flushing fluid should not be leaked, otherwise the spare parts should be adjusted or replaced in time.

1.4 The rubber parts should be stored in a cool, dry room with small temperature change (room temperature is within 10 ~ 25 ℃), dark light, preferably without ultraviolet radiation (the window glass should be painted red or orange, not blue), and the storage time should not exceed half a year.

1.5 Pull rod, cylinder liner, crosshead sliding sleeve, crosshead, inlet and outlet valve seat and other metal parts shall be stored in dry and non corrosive gas room, and coated with anti rust oil or sealed with wax. When using, wax shall be removed and cleaned, and check whether there are bumps and burrs, especially the working surface contacting with rubber parts shall be coated with grease during assembly.

1.6 When the pump is stopped for a long time, it is necessary to drain all the water and oil of the pump, clean up the mud, sand and dirt on all parts, and coat the following parts with grease: crankshaft journal, variable speed shaft, gear, crosshead, crosshead sliding sleeve, pin shaft, pull rod, valve cover, cylinder head, valve seat hole, stem and safety valve core of unloading valve, etc.

1.7 In the cold winter season or cold area, when the pump is stopped for a long time, the flushing liquid in the slurry pump and each pipeline must be discharged to avoid frost cracking of the equipment.

  1. Lubrication of mud pump

The lubrication of the pump is very important. In order to ensure the continuous normal operation of the pump and reduce the wear of the moving parts, the lubrication should be carried out regularly. After 500 hours of operation of the new pump, the pump body must be cleaned and the oil must be changed. After that, the oil of the mud pump should be changed every 1000 hours.

  1. Disassembly and assembly of vulnerable parts of mud pump

The pump can be disassembled completely or partially, that is, it can be disassembled completely in overhaul and partially in overhaul or troubleshooting.

3.1 Disassembly of vulnerable parts

3.1.1 Piston: first remove the cylinder head pressing plate nut, loosen the nut and thin nut of the cylinder liner inner rod, and then take out the piston with the piston removal tool.

3.1.2 Cylinder liner: first remove the pump head, remove the piston, fork the special tool top plate between the pull rod and the cylinder liner, turn the pump and use the pull rod to push out the cylinder liner.

3.1.3 Valve seat: remove the valve cover first and remove the valve seat with the valve seat removal tool.

3.1.4 Pull rod seal ring: after taking out the cylinder liner, loosen the connection between the pull rod and crosshead, remove the pull rod, and then open the gland on the pull rod seal to replace the pull rod seal ring.

3.1.5 Safety valve: open the upper shield, loosen the adjusting screw, remove the valve cover, and then replace the spring.

3.1.6 Unloading valve: first remove the handle rod, and then loosen the flat nut, round nut, sealing ring nut and other parts to replace the V-ring, sealing ring seat, valve stem and other parts. Loosen the connecting bolt under the valve body to replace the valve seat.

3.2 Assembly of vulnerable parts

3.2.1 The crankshaft bearing gland can only be set according to the number and cannot be exchanged. The tightening torque of bolts and nuts is 120 ~ 140nm.

3.2.2 The tightening torque of the connecting rod screw is 80 ~ 100nm, and it is stopped by the stop washer.

3.2.3 All connecting bolts and nuts shall be tightened without looseness.

3.2.4 When assembling the inlet and outlet valve seat, special attention should be paid to that the valve seat hole and the valve seat mating surface are not allowed to have any inclusions, and the valve seat is not allowed to be loose after being installed and tightened.

  1. Flushing of mud system

4.1 The mud system should be flushed every time the equipment is used. Flushing method: connect clean water into the absorption port of the mud pump, and make the mud pump run for about 5min until the clean water flows out of the outlet of the power head.

4.2 Every time the mud system is cleaned, the water in the mud pump must be drained.

4.3 Mud pump drain: there are three drain holes under the mud pump, and the water can be drained by removing the bolts. In the process of draining, it is necessary to hold up the internal steel ball to drain the water in the upper chamber.

4.4 Mud pipe drain: prop up the back leg of the drilling rig to make the drain joint on the side of the drilling frame at the lowest point, and screw off the screw plug to drain the water.

4.5 Note: the pump body will freeze crack if the water is not discharged in winter.

  1. High pressure flushing device

After each project, the equipment and tools need to be washed.

5.1 Prepare clean water and connect quick coupling 2 firmly.

5.2 Start the engine.

5.3 Close ball valve 1.

5.4 Press and hold the handle of the water gun to clean the equipment.

5.5 After cleaning the equipment, disconnect the quick coupling 2.

  1. Antifreezing device in winter
    • When the external temperature is lower than 0 ℃, it is necessary to make antifreeze preparation for the mud system.
    • When the drilling rig is not in use or at the end of daily operation, a certain amount of antifreeze should be poured into the mud system to prevent the system from freezing.

6.3 Fill the antifreeze tank with 30 liters of antifreeze.

6.4 Open the check valve.

6.5 Start the engine, start the mud pump, and shut down the mud pump when the antifreeze flows out of the power head drill collar.

6.6 Collect, store or properly dispose of used antifreeze.

6.7 Mud leakage inspection.

6.8 Every time before the equipment works, the mud pump should be operated to check whether there is leakage at the pipeline and joint joints of the mud system.
